I love going to the thrift store

I have found some amazing and wonderful goodies there. I found 2 large bags of wool yarn and decided to sell some of it in my Etsy shop. They sold quick but then one buyer had to leave a crap feedback. Now tell me how hard is to contact the person you purchased something from and let them know that you aren't happy. Instead they just leave a neutral feedback. I have no knowledge of previous owners or where the things I purchase may have been. I just get excited at an awesome purchase.

About a month ago I found a vintage sewing basket at the thrift store with probally 150 spools of vintage thread. Now I really don't need that much thread so I list some and now I have to hope for the best.

So the way I see it is if your a picky person stay away from vintage items because you never know where it has been or who may have had it last.

What does a potato masher and polymer clay have in common

They make the cutiest unique buttons. I am always looking for something to do my buttons with. something unique. Well I go to the thrift store looking for something and find this potato masher and though this could work. I started playing and so is created the potato masher polymer clay button.

Polymer clay and cheese cloth

So I was at the thrift store and found a great deal on some cheese cloth, well I got to thinking about how it would look with some polymer clay. I decided to dye it with coffee so it wouldn't be so white. I used a transparent clay, made the buttons. Baked first. when they cooled I then decoupaged the cheese cloth to the buttons giving them a very unique look.

Ok first of all this cold is kicking my butt and slowing me way down. But I did manage to get a pocketbook listed and here it is

A handbag a day for 30 days

I am in pocketbook over load and decided to get rid of some. Some are ones I have purchased and some I have made. So I have decided to list one a day for 30 days into my Bonanzle shop.

The flowers and the bee's

I love catching a bee on flowers and then backing away in hopes of not getting stung. I went to Old Salem and took these as I love the flowers that grow there in the summer

A sequin halter top and a tiger lily

My daughter in law takes belly dancing classes and know I am a crafty girl wanted to see if I could make her some things. Once again I found some pretty fabric at the thrift store and made her this sparkly green halter top. I wish I had taken pics of her wearing it but maybe next time.

Summer wouldn't be the same without taking some flower pics. I love getting up close and personal to a flower to show off the detail.

Is it an ironing pad or a blocking pad?

Actually it is both. Surrounded by lot's of fabric I was debating on what to try next. And of course being a knitter and a crocheter you can always use something to block your small items on that is also portable and can be rolled up and stashed in your knitting bag, Of course there is one more option.... a changing pad for a baby. The outside is a pretty decorative fabric and the inside is cotton. It has quilt batting between the layers and a pretty silk ribbon for tying it up when not in use. Can be used for quick ironing small projects too.

Pillow sham pocketbook

I had went to the knit shop and they has some beautiful pocketbook's that were made out of a tapestry fabric and with a very high price tag of 175.00. Well looking at the bag I new I could make one of those so I went to the thrift store and found a tapestry king size pillow sham and an old pocketbook that I wanted the handles for it. I came home took the pillow sham apart and cut the handles off of the old bag and sewed. The inside has pockets and it can be carried as a shoulder bag or handbag.

On a sad note today makes 3 years since my daddy passed away and I miss him every day.

Burlap and cotton string Market Bag or tote

I found this wonderful burlap at the thrift store. About three yards of it so decided to make totes with it. Now what to use for a handle? I had some cotton string so seemed like a good idea to crochet a handle with it. This is large in size and could hold a lot of goodies and the handle stays on your wrist.

Now on to my next project

My thrift store curtains

Well actually the fabric. I found over 10 yards of this fabric at the thrift store for 5.00 and when I seen it I was like kitchen curtains. My son smile and said well of course your Martha Stewart. So came home and started measuring and sewing, even had enough fabric to make some kitchen curtains for my granny too. And oh yea I do know I need to make matching tie backs for the one curtain.

Finally was able to get a couple of phots of my granddaughter Emily. My son took these with his camera phone and I snagged them off of Facebook. Well I was seeing lot's of orange and that needed to change so to work I went. The after pictures has way less orange and is much softer.

Finally had a pretty day to take some of my things outside and get some pictures made. I am trying to get some of my ufo's finished. This is what I have so far

I finished and listed my first crochet pattern

At the local knit shop I got to they had a pattern for the knit artsy scarfy. I thought this was the cutiest thing so I came home and decided to make a few. Then I though how about a crochet version of this scarf so I called and asked ans she was excited about the idea. So here is the crochet version of the artsy scarfy and it is so easy and great for using up all that scrap yarn.

I get so tickled at my granny and mama when they say this. Back years ago you just didn't go barefoot till May. Now one thing about my granny she keeps a warm house and since menopause it is summer for me alot. It has to be really cold for me to wear boots or shoes that confine the foot as I am a flip flop and sandal kinda girl. I do their hair every week and I know that even in the cold months to dress for hot weather so one of the first things to go is the shoes and I will hear "aren't you cold?" You are not suppose to go barefoot till at least May

I just just laugh and tell them I am fine.

The changing of the tulips

Nothing motivates me more than a beautiful Spring day. I have to grab the camera and take some pictures then I come in and play. I have 3 red tulips that had opened and this is what I came up with.
