Pumpkin update

The plant is growing so quickly and now the flowers have started. It is starting to vine out and I just get excited every time I go out and look.

On Friday hubby and I went out picture taking for our anniversery and I was able to get a dragonfly, he actually posed for 2 pictures and then flew away. While looking around we also came across the adorable little kittens in a barn.

Now the pumpkin plants are really growing

The pumpkin plants are taking off. I am excited and hoping that by fall we will have some big pumpkins. And the bee balms are showing off as well as the butterfly bush is starting to take off and the cone flowers. I just love flowers that come back year after year, and each year they just get bigger and better. We actually had to take some out and replant in other areas of our yard.

Went to the doc on Wednesday and now wish I hadn't. My blood pressure is up and she feels as if stress is the problem. Then discovered my ear was infected again so got hit with 3 prescriptions and I just don't like taking meds at all. Trying to convince myself that 145/92 isn't really that bad and could always be worse.

Practice makes perfect

Well I have been playing around with my polymer clay and have designed some new buttons, it is amazing at just how versatile polymer clay is and all the fun things you can do with it. I also am determined to figure out how to do the peace sign in polymer clay as I figured out the crochet way.

My pumpkins are still growing like weeds now and have gotton their 4th leaves. I am excited and my bee balms are in full bloom as well as my butterfly bush and some cone flowers. Pictures of those later.

Day Trip to the mountains with mama and granny

Well I feel as if I have been beat up this morning from all the driving but we had a lot of fun. I love the mountains it is my favorite place to go. We shopped and got a few goodies. We went to Boone NC on to Blowing Rock and the Lenoir. I discovered that from Lenior to interstate 40 was going to be the longest way home so after asking around I discovered a short cut back to N Wilksboro and got us back in an hour and a 1/2. We hung out at Blowing Rock for a while me taking pictures and mama and granny setting back eating ice cream and nachos. It was pretty hazy looking at the mountains making picture taking a little hard. Of course I had to snap some flowers they are my fav thing to photograph.

Remembering my daddy

Ah this is not a happy day for me. It is pouring down rain and today marks the 2nd year of my dad's passing. Still at times feels like such a bad dream and I hope to wake to find him still here. My daddy was one of my biggest fans of my crafting and that keeps me going. Knowing how he believed in me and bragged to everyone about the cool stuff that I make helps me keep at it because I know he would want me to keep at it and not give up. He would always say "she has a little extra money look out A C Moore" He even told them at the hospital how creative his daughter was and then told me I should bring some things over there to sale. But he was way to important to me to think about that. He had to come first.
I made my dad his hat when he started chemo. and the picture below was when he was young and it is my daddy and my grandma. I really miss you Daddy

We have germanation

Yey was afraid with all the hard and heavy rains we had right after I planted the seeds that they might rot or get washed away but the pumpkin seeds have germinated and have their 3rd leaves now. However my sunflowers haven't done anything yet so might have to replant those.

I have about 25 bee balms that are starting to open and I can't wait till they all open with the cone flowers and the butterfly bush

Planted pumpkin and sunflower seeds today

I hope I didn't do them to late in the season but we will see. I didn't want the pumpkins to harvest in August so now they should be ready by the end of September. Speaking of sunflowers by hubby bought me a bouquet of sunflowers yesterday and of course had to pull out the camera and take pictures of my favorite flower. I took these using a spot filter on my camera and of course I had to change one of them

I have a product review for the Singer Pixie

Ok let me start by saying I have 2 great sewing machines but wanted this little compact one for some light projects. I have read some of the reviews but let me just say this. It comes with some thread and bobbins which is ok but throw that thread away and empty it off of the bobbins. The thread is cheap and breaks really easy and will frustrate you. Get yourself a spool of Coat's and Clark fill your bobbin then sew you will find it does so much better. Also keep in mind that this is a craft sewing machine and it is for light projects such as scrap booking, light sewing , small projects etc. Don't buy this with the intention of sewing a new wardrobe or making curtains for your entire house or you will be disappointed.

There were comments about the peddle giving out now hasn't happened to me yet and hope it doesn't but with the flip of a switch it will sew for you and has several stitch patterns. Also if you read the directions it tells you to unplug when not in use.

It is light weight and portable enough to take away from home and get this it will run on batteries too.

From this....... to this

I walked outside to my deck yesterday and I saw a photo moment. There on my plant was a baby I think grass hopper. After about 30 shots with the camera and pictures that didn't do as well as I hoped for I settled with this one and made some interesting changes.

Well my seeds are still in the packets but the ground is ready. Why you ask? Well we have had so much rain lately that I am afraid they will wash away or rot. I hope to get them done this week because I would love to see some sunflowers by July or August and also some big fat pumpkins for jack-o-lanterns.

What a busy weekend

It was a birthday weekend. Hubby's was on Saturday and my son's was on Sunday. I have added another pif to my etsy shop but you can also snag it here as well. It is so pretty and sunny here today. I think our high will be close to 90. I have some running to do and then I hope to later on today get some flowers planted. I am also going to try my hand at pumpkins this year.

I will keep an update on that. I hope that by October to have some great jack-o lanterns from the pumpkins I have grown. Of course Gavyn wants to help. I am going to plant some mammoth sunflowers too and then we can feed the birds with the seeds not to mention some fun pictures.

my new knit cards

I am getting a little braver with my photography and editing skills. I am on this computer daily trying to figure things out. So I go to the local knit shop Knit Picky here in Winston Salem and showed her some of my pictures and we started talking about making some knit note cards so I started taking pictures and come home and played. Now it is a work in progress and still need to take plenty more pictures and work at it but I did come up with a couple that I like. And I wouldn't be me with out a big splash of color!

I love playing with my photos

I love coming up with something that may take a few min or a few hours and lot's of layers but the end result is pretty cool. I also have this cute little photo printer from Canon that will print out these perfect little 4*6 that I can frame or even use in a card or a post card.
